Figure Skating and the Arts

There are eight centuries of this fabulous sport covered in the book. The work of many artists are highlighted here. They show in depth the colorful and graceful detail of the people that adore figure skating. Included are graphic designers; photographers; film makers and choreographers that all show the many aspects of the recreational activity and sport.

The six chapters cover: Skating in the Arts; Blades on Ice; Diversions on Ice; The Sport of Skating; Entertainment on the Ice and Whither Skating. The background history is given on skating. To express the creativity in the sport, all kinds of mediums are used in the color photographs. There were post cards; advertising; programs; prints and paintings; posters; puppets; photographs; sculptures; actual ice skates and even Olympic medals.

World class and Olympic skaters are also featured. The TV ratings during the Olympics is always high when ice skating is being broadcast. The United States has always won many of the events.

There are lots of dedicated fans of ice skating and they will be delighted with this 11 ¾” x 9” hardback book. It has a dustcover. There are 192 pages with over 320 photographs in this book that retails for $45
